Super Smashed it!

Well it seems the Lord Masahiro Sakurai has managed to please absolutely everyone with the new Smash Bros. if the reaction to the latest Nintendo Direct is anything to go by.  Almost every aspect of the game he spoke about was trending worldwide on twitter within seconds of the words leaving his lips.

-Modified existing characters to be much more competitive.

-A Hardcore Online mode

-Plenty of nods to Nintendo's past.

-A vault load of new Pokeball Pokemon (MASTER BALLS)

as a

And is it just me or does Sakurai appear to be enjoying the production of this Smash Bros much more than he did in Brawl now he's creating the game based on his terms.

If you haven't seen it yet (where were you) take a look at the whole thing here:

The entire thing was a work of art, and launching the Nintendo 3DS version a few months ahead of the Wii U version is a genius move; the latter can benefit hugely from positive appraisals of the former. I'm also rather excited by the fact that we now know of 29 standalone playable characters, which means that - despite Sakurai's previous comments - Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U should almost certainly have more playable characters than Brawl, which had a 35-character roster once everyone had been unlocked, though said 35 doesn't include Sheik or Zero Suit Samus since they were swaps rather than standalone. So yeah, basically... that was fantastic.
